Just when we start to get over the cold temps outside, Mother Nature had plans to drop some 

wicked weather our way.  We wanted to give you a few reminders on navigating through the winter roads.

1.  Make sure to clean off the ice, snow and dirt are cleaned off of your 

windows, headlight and tail lights.

2.  Make sure your windshield wipers are in working order. Consider winter blades for 

this time of the year.

3.  Keep an ice scraper in your vehicle.

4.  If the road conditions are hazardous, wait if possible before going out.

5.  Drive slow and know your brakes. Increase the distance between you 

and the vehicle ahead of you.

It's the last few days before Christmas! Many of us are out finishing up last minute shopping.

It is so easy to forget to be aware because as you are walking to your car with arms full of packages you are thinking about where else you have to stop and what all you still need to do to prepare.

We wanted to remind you of a few safety tips that can easily slip your mind.

1.  Stay aware of your surroundings.

2. Park in a well lit area of the parking lot.

3.  Lock your doors.

4. Don't leave valuables in plain sight in your vehicle.

5. Don't talk on your phone or check Facebook while walking to your car.

6.  When you get in your car lock your doors before doing anything else.

7.  Don't leave your purse unattended.

Winter Tips and Tricks for your Vehicle

1.  If your windows steam up on the inside, keep a chalk board eraser inside your vehicle and use it to wipe the moisture off the inside of your windows.
2.   You also can fill a sock with kitty litter and place it on your dashboard. This will help absorb water to keep your windows from fogging up!
3.  Keep extra socks in your car! You can put these OVER your shoes to help give you added traction is case you need to push your car or walk in the snow and ice.
4.  Do your wipers have a tendency to stick to the windows? Get a cloth or a sock and pour rubbing alcohol on it.  Wipe this on your wipers.  This will stop them from freezing to the windows.
5. Doors freeze shut in the cold? Spray cooking spray on the door cracks and rubber. This will prevent them from sticking in the cold.
6.  If you do not have heated mirrors, place a sandwich bag over your side mirrors.  When you are ready to roll out, pull them off! No more icy, frozen mirrors.  
7.  Keep kitty litter in your trunk! Not only will the weight on your back tires help you if you are stuck, you can also spread some under the tires for extra traction!
