No Money Down Loans and What You Should Know

One of the biggest questions we are asked is "Can I get this with no money down?".
This depends on the lender, credit and a few other variables.
There are many lenders that will work with a no money down situation.

This sounds great..right?  However, there are a few things to consider to see if this option is right for you.

Let's say you get approved for a loan on your dream car and you put no money down.  As you are driving off the lot you are also driving with a higher interest rate, larger monthly payment and no equity in your new vehicle.

Used cars already have a higher annual percentage rate (APR).  In most cases if you do mot make a down payment you will be looking as well at a higher payment.

If you are approved and decide to use the no money down option be aware of the following.

1.  You will have no equity in your vehicle.

2.  You may have a higher interest rate.

Be sure to pay attention to the terms and do your best to pay the loan off quicker to minimize your interest costs.

When it comes to buying a car or any major purchase there is a flow of emotions.  It may be your first big decision, or maybe you have been down this road before, it still is the same.  Purchasing a vehicle is an achievement.  It is full of twists and turns, ups and downs.  Here are a few of the emotional stages of buying a car.

1.  ACCEPTANCE

2.  SEARCHING

In this stage you find yourself looking at every car in a parking lot or on the road.  You are getting a bit excited. What do I want, What do I need and What can I afford?

3.  EXCITEMENT

I think I have found what I am looking for! It is beautiful! I want it!

4.  WORRIED

After all the negotiations and back and forth you got the price you wanted AND the trade in value you hoped for. Now you maybe worried...Can I get approved, Can I get the rate and payment I am able to afford?

5.  HAPPY

I am approved! I signed all the papers! I took delivery!

6.  BUYERS REMORSE

This does not happen to all, but to some next comes a feeling of remorse. Buyers remorse is a feeling of regret experienced after making a large purchase. You may start to question your purchase. depressed.  In this case you need to think about why you made the decision to make that purchase.

Getting the Most out of Your Trade In

Tips For Getting the Most out of your Trade

When you are getting ready to trade your car, truck or suv the back and forth about what your trade is worth can be a headache.

You could be trading it is for many reasons.  It may be running perfectly fine, but your family has outgrown it.  It may not be running that great and you are sinking money into repairs to keep it on the road and keep it safe.  Or, it could be you just want something newer.

In order to get the best trade in value here are a few steps you should take before getting an appraisal.

1.  Clean it.  Either do it yourself or have it detailed.  Wash it and sweep it out. Give it a good coat of wax.

2.  Check your fluids and fix any minor repairs.

3.  Know what you owe.  If you are still making payments call your lean holder and ask what the payoff is on your vehicle.

4.  Visit Kelly Blue Book online and be honest with the condition of your car so that you can have a range of what your vehicle is possibly worth.  Know that the number you get is a sight unseen estimate.

5.  Bring any extra keys and/or fobs.  Also, if you have an owners manual have that as well.

6.  Bring any documentation with you.  By this we mean title, repair receipts and repair history.

7.  Call Rankl & Ries and set up a time to come in and test drive and get an onsite appraisal.

We hope these tips help.

When Is It Time To Trade In Your Vehicle

Signs it's time to trade in your current vehicle.

We all want to keep our vehicles as long as possible. When is it time to trade your current car, truck or SUV?
When you trade depends on the vehicle and your personal situation.

Here are a few signs it's time to trade in and trade up:

1.  Repairs are mounting up. Fixing the vehicle is costing too much.  Don't spend more on it than it is worth.

2.  Your life has outgrown your car.  Life happens. Your family grows.  You are commuting longer and farther.  invest in something that will make your life easier.

3.  You cannot count on it anymore.  It is too unreliable.  If it spends more time in the shop or if it is unsafe to drive.

4.  Your mileage is over 100,000.  Miles mean a lot of things.  Your car has wear and tear and could give you problems in the near future.

5.  It is a gas guzzler.  With the cost of gas lately it can be a big deal to fill up at the tank.  You might want to start looking into something easier on gas.

If you can answer yes to any of these questions then it is time to trade in and trade up.
We are here to help assist you.  You can visit us online at www.ranklandriesmotorcars.com or call us at 330-479-2000 to set up your appraisal and test drive. We do our best to ensure you have a stress free experience when looking for your next vehicle.

Last Minute Valentines Day Gift Ideas

Last Minute Valentines Day Ideas

I cannot help but laugh and chuckle every year when I run into a store to pick something up on Valentines Day at the men in the greeting card section.  They look like deer in the headlights.
Like this day just popped up on them with no warning and they are trying to stay out of the dog house.  The key to knowing what to get is to know what your significant other likes to do and build off of that!

Never fear, we are here to help you with some last minute Valentines gift ideas.

1. Pick up a Plant!
Flowers are great but I always tell my husband that they die in a few days and they can be cost a lot of money.  A pretty plant is a perfect gift, they last a lot longer or forever!

2.  Book and a Blanket
Does your better half like to read? Pick up a book or some magazines and a nice cozy throw blanket!

3.  A Gift of Relaxation
Can't afford to give her a day at the spa? Give her one at home!
Pick up some bubble bath, bath bombs, a new bath sponge, and a scented candle! Keep an eye on the kids for about an hour and leave her relax.

4.  Have a Picnic!
It maybe cold and snowing outside but it is perfect weather for a picnic. Pick up some sandwiches and other goodies. Some wine and crackers would be a perfect idea! Light some candles and spread a blanket out on the floor!

These are just a couple of ideas for you.  Of course if you want to give a great surprise we are here to help you get her a newer vehicle as well...just a thought!

Happy Valentines Day from Rankl & Ries Motorcars!

Valentines Day Ideas for Families

Celebrating Valentines Day with your Family

Valentines Day is next Thursday.  This day is typically a day of romance, flowers, greeting cards and going out to eat.  Valentines Day is also about the love of family and celebrating with the kids.  Here are a few ideas to help make the day special for the little ones.

1.  Make heart shaped pancakes for breakfast

2.  Make homemade Valentines for each family member with words of appreciation or acts of kindness that you can do for each other.

3.  Create Valentines cards to give to elderly neighbors or to take to a local nursing home to be distributed to the residents.

4.  Many local pizza shops have heart shaped pizza on this day. Order one and have a movie night!

5.  Bake and decorate cupcakes or cut out cookies together.

6.  Have a family game night complete with snacks and of course some candy!

7.  Make Valentines keepsake boxes and each year write your child a letter to keep in the box that they can re-read each year and keep into adulthood.

These are just a few ideas.  Do you have a family tradition or have a suggestion as well? We would love to hear about them!

Back To School Tips and Tricks

Back to School Tips and Tricks from Rankl & Ries

It's that time of the year! Time that parents have been waiting on for months.
Back to School!! Many of our districts have started back already and in the next week the rest
of the kiddo's will be loading the yellow bus as well! Here are a few tips and tricks that the mom's
here at Rankl & Ries Motorcars have found useful!

1.  Create a family calendar.  This will help keep track of all activities and schedules for the
weeks ahead.  Nicole has kids in band and football.  She suggests using a white board like she has
in the kitchen so that everyone sees it daily.

2.  Make sure to create some family time each day.  Whether it is a night where you sit down at
a meal together or about a half an hour before bed.  Barb said that she finds this helpful to kids.
It is a time to ask questions about each other's day and also let them know that even though we get busy, we always have time for family.

3.  Make sure to set up a designated homework space.  Make this an area that does not have a TV or gaming system that may be a distraction  Also, Nicole suggests make this a no cell phone zone.

4.  Set up and keep to a weekday and weekend bedtime.  Consistency is key!

5.  Lay out school clothes the night before and if you pack, pack the lunchboxes as well at night.

6.  Set your clocks ahead in the house by 10 minutes.  This will ensure that your family is on
time and does not miss the bus.

7.  With such busy schedules with sports and other after school activities, be sure to keep grab and go
snacks on hand.

Here is to a great 2018/2019 School Year!!!

Tips For Your Next Test Drive

Today many of us begin looking for our next vehicle online.  We spend hours searching for
that perfect vehicle and perfect price.  Although some will purchase a vehicle
sight unseen, we recommend that you still go into the dealership to test drive and physically inspect
any vehicle before you sign any papers.  Here are some tips to follow when you are
out on your next pre-owned test drive.

1.  Did the vehicle start up on the first try?

2.  Does it shift easily and smooth?

3.  Check to make sure that the power windows and seats work.  Also check
the cruise control, A/C, heat, defrosters, radio, CD and DVD players work.

4.  Do you hear any noises?

5.  Does the vehicle have any rust or strange smells?

6.  How are the tires?

These are just a few tips for you.  You want to make sure when you are investing in a vehicle that it
is safe and reliable.

What is GAP Coverage

What Is GAP Coverage?

What is GAP coverage or GAP Insurance? Do I need it? It costs extra?
These are some of the questions that you may have when you are sitting in the finance office for your next vehicle purchase.  Here is some information for you.

GAP stands for Guaranteed Auto Protection.  It is a form of auto insurance that a car buyer can get to protect themselves against a total loss.

GAP insurance will cover the difference between your vehicles depreciated value and what you still owe if your vehicle is stolen or you are in an accident and it is a total loss.

In other words, let's say you owe $10,000 on your vehicle and you are in an accident.  Your insurance company says that it is a total loss.  They give you $5000 for the value of your vehicle. Now you are left still owing $5000 on a vehicle that you don't even have.  GAP would pay the remaining balance of $5000 and pay off your loan.

It is wise to invest in GAP coverage to cover yourself in case of such events.
